The premiere of Belle-Île-en-mer, île acadienne et bretonne (Belle-Île-en-mer, Acadian and Breton Island), documentary by Phil Comeau for which I composed the music, has been a great success in Moncton, this November 11th. At a point that the direction of Festival international du film francophone en Acadie (Acadia International Francophone Film Festival) has programmed another projection this Tuesday November 15th, 2016, at 9:00pm, in the Dieppe Cineplex. Tickets are sold at the entrance.
The film will also be presented at the Caraquet Cinéma du Centre this Wednesday November 16th 2016, at 6:30pm. I will be there with Phil Comeau, of course, but also with Zachary Richard, for the film Toujours batailleur on the famous singer, presented in a double program with Belle-Île....
The experienced director has travelled to this magnificent island of Atlantic Ocean to explore the strong links between the inhabitants and their Acadian roots. He sees them through his personal perspective. The director has captured splendid images of this Island filled with Acadian names: Granger, Landry, LeBlanc, etc. After seeing the film, we have only one desire: to visit the place and to meet these people who look so warm and friendly. The islanders are proud of their roots and this is what they express in the film that also follows the arrival of a group of Acadians from Maritime Provinces coming to celebrate with the Bellilois their affiliation to Acadia." - Sylvie Mousseau, L'Acadie Nouvelle (translation: Frédéric Chiasson).
