This website is not updated because a new website is under construction. Actually, I still compose and arrange a lot! For the last news, please check my Facebook page.
March 22nd, 2011
I will soon give a presentation for the final of the Student Presentation Competition of the Société québécoise de recherche en musique. It will be on Thursday, March 24th at 5:30PM at B-484 hall of the Music Faculty of Université de Montréal.
I will describe the importance of « volume » – the sound's perceived size (and not its loudness) – in orchestration. I will therefore prove that the « volume » notion is an essential attribute for the perception of orchestral layers, the guessing of monsters' size in fantasy movies and deers' sexuality. Not bad for a timbre descriptor neglected by scientists for 40 years!
Do not hesitate to satisfy your curiosity: presentations are open to public.
P.S.: Presentations will be given in French. Time to practice!
