It's done ! Pascale Beaudin, Jean-Philippe Tremblay and the Orchestre de la Francophonie have premiered Urbania this Saturday, July 27th, 2013, in the New Cathedral of Mont-Laurier, for the Festival classique des Hautes-Laurentides (High-Laurentides Classical Festival).
I was confident after rehearsals that it would be good, but there was something more at the premiere. Some kind of magic coming from a premiere excitement? What is sure is that there was public reaction! I spend you the superlatives I received, fearing to look full of myself.
The rest of the concert was as exciting. Alexandre Da Costa brilliantly played the 5th Concerto for violin of Mozart, with a solo of Jimmy Hendrix as encore! Jean-Philippe and the Orchestre followed with the “Jupiter” Symphony: finally a version that sounded « Jupiter », with for the final a tempo that was electrifying for the least. Let us not forget the beautiful interlude of the Sonata for two clarinets by Poulenc, in the program to show the talent of the two clarinetists of the orchestra.
Well, a video stands for a thousand words. Two videos stand for even more. Here are two excerpts of Urbania played this Saturday.
